weekend madness

Been busy here in the lab (hot brooklyn apartment) on secret projects (washing dishes)! I took that deck out for some tests this weekend. The good news: it’s a great deck, snappy and a good size for me. The bad news: Why didn’t anyone tell me that I am getting old and that getting back on a skateboard after 6 years isn’t as easy as getting back on a bike? Ouch.

On an art front I’ve switched up to Copic Markers for 90% of my creature drawing shading. Hopefully you haven’t noticed much of a difference at all, that was the goal. I was skeptical at first to give up my old Letraset Tria markers, but they just changed the pen design to be MORE uncomfortable and annoying, and they dropped a bunch of color. The Copics are pricey, but well worth it. They go on well, dry fast and layer nicely.

jason sho greenBusy weekend ahead. If you are in NYC there are plenty of treats. Friday eve I plan on hitting up Jason Sho Green’s (at left) art show opening in Soho. He’s been doing some amazing stuff lately.

Saturday in Soho brings the annual Art Parade. My lady and her friend will be representing. That evening it’s off to Jonathan Levine Gallery for amazing shows from Jeff Soto and Jim Houser. I’ve seen the previews of both shows and the work is great, can’t wait to see it in person.

Sunday it is a casual stroll over to my sister’s Cafe Grumpy in Greenpoint to check out the craft fair going on during the day.

Have a great weekend!
