“Rocket Rider” progress

Here’s a little animated version of progress from the 7th anniversary drawing! I’ll do a few of these now and then as people have often asked me to see progress. Here’s a quick breakdown:
– sketch in notebook (not shown)
– re-draw sketch bigger in pencil, scan
– bring into Illustrator, reduce opacity
– draw basic lines on top of sketch
– do basic fills, refine lines
– position, work on line weights and basic colors
– add shading, final colors, line work, background, etc
(this part takes the longest!)
