pardon the dustover the next weeks we're doing some spring mid-winter housecleaning, so expect a bunch of broken/missing things!

How some things get done.

A lot of people ask me how I work, or ‘what software do you use’, here’s a quick rundown of the process for anyone interested, but I’m afraid it’s rather boring:

1. Sketch a bunch of drawings, pick one I like. I sketch very small with a hard pencil in a 4″x6″ black book that I try to carry around with me. This is about the actual size I sketched it.

2. Redraw sketch on a larger sheet, I usually work on 5″x5″ squares but today I happened to work on 4″x6″. I make notes or try out different details, eyes, etc at this stage.

3. Redraw one more time making final adjustments to major details, sometimes I trace if I am happy with the basic form of the previous sketch.

4. Go over the pencil lines with ink. I use a regular, cheap, boring rollerball Pilot pen. I scan this step in black and white for my archive, and in case I ever need the raw source art.

5. I usually shade the drawing using a Letraset marker, although sometimes a I use a brush with watered down acrylic.

6. Scan, clean up any dirt, post, repeat!

See, I told you it was boring. These might be more interesting..
