To coincide with the release of the 3″ Lemon Drop and 20″ Orange Drop Dunny figures with Kidrobot, I’ve been working on a slightly larger companion.. This fiberglass monster stands 56″ tall and is approximately the size of a Fiat.. OK maybe a bit smaller.
Thanks to the MyPlasticWagon for bringing him to the studio.
Blu’s last request was to skate on Procrastination Station.
A few days with an orbital sander to your face will do wonders to your complexion… it will also cover your studio in dust.
It looked pretty neat as I stripped the original paint away.. at this point I was tempted to just leave it like this.
Mmm.. Chocolate dip (or a half dozen cans of primer).
An Orange base coat. This is post clean-up, most of the studio was coated in a thin layer of orange for a week.
Top and bottom spray fades laid down.
Time to grab my calipers, my model, and get to roughing out.
The mouth, the centerpiece and my main reference point, got the spray treatment for a nice even base.
With the anchor art down, the rest got drawn in for hand painting.

We shoulda bought bigger brushes.

There is still a bit of work to do, but the big guy came out great! He should be finished up by early August.
